She completed her Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Allahabad University in 1987
After a gap of 10 years (during which she got married and started a family), Prachi worked for 5 years as a Grief/Loss Counselor at NIMHANS, Bangalore, India. Then, she moved to a Bangalore-based NGO called Vishwas, where she spent 3-4 hours every week counselling people for marital problems, adolescent issues, child sexual abuse, depression, and so on. During her 10+ years at Vishwas, Prachi worked with several schools in Bangalore, conducting workshops for adolescents on self-awareness, communication skills, gender issues, self-esteem and other related areas.
In January 2013, Prachi co-founded Tanmaatra in partnership with her husband where she continues to provide counselling and therapy services.
Prachi has consolidated her experience with formal training in Counselling, Career Guidance, Transaction Analysis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Life Coaching. She is a member of the International Transaction Analysis Association.
Along with extensive experience in making a positive change to the lives of individuals through 3000 hours of sessions,
she has conducted over 450 seminars on similar topics including seminars for parents on physical & psychological safety of children & healthy parenting, peer pressure, effective communication on uncomfortable topics. In sessions, she uses her practical experience of working with parents & her research on Emotional Abuse across gender by significant others. She is also a Partner at POSH at Work, a firm focussed on addressing, training & assisting organisations on prevention of Sexual Harassment at the workplace. Samriti has done her B.A in Psychology (Hons.) from University of Delhi, followed by M.Sc. Psychology (Clinical) from Christ College, Bangalore.
In therapy sessions, she follows an eclectic approach and includes Psychoeducation, Behavioural Modification Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy & Narrative Therapy in which she is certified.
Completing her Masters in Psychology from Madras University, she now successfully runs her own practice Counseling India. She creates a confidential, non-judgemental and supportive environment for the clients, within which authentic self-exploration can take place.
Her offerings range across different challenges within varied age groups – self-esteem issues, parenting, prenatal & postnatal struggles, relationship problems, work life balance, teenage problems, abuse, mental health issues like anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts, fear, developmental disorders in children to name a few.
She has conducted various ‘Parenting Seminars’ in Corporates, schools and social groups, seminars on ‘Safety and Sexuality’ for children, parents and teachers, Orientation workshops for teachers and full day trainings for trainee counsellors.
She currently also works as a Counselling Psychologist at Turning Point, Bangalore.
